Virtue Cellars was a fledgling wine company in need of an identity and stunning labels to make their brand jump off the shelf. In addition to crafting custom type designs, we explored concepts inspired by such things as the founders’ love for hiking, their virtuous “whole vine” method for making wine, and the idea of a leisurely card game played with friends.
The chosen concept was black and white—representing their highly principled approach to wine making—with just a hint of gold. So when we set out to develop a color system for the labels, we saw the opportunity to dive deeper into the the brand storytelling using color. We explored different approaches, ultimately settling on a palette inspired by a bright, sunny vineyard and by the colors of the Puget Sound Region.
Virtue Cellars successfully launched their Washington wine brand, feeling emboldened by their new identity and excited about the future of their family owned company.
